$219 a month (Business 1,000), or $153.30 a month billed annually
DocuClipper writes .QBO, .QFX, .OFX, .QIF and IIF files, and it can send transactions straight to QuickBooks or Xero. ZeraBooks writes Excel and CSV only. QuickBooks Online takes a CSV through its bank upload, so our QuickBooks-ready CSV covers that case. If your software only reads Web Connect files, DocuClipper is the better fit.
PROOF BEFORE DOWNLOAD
Every statement checked against its own balances.
ZeraBooks adds up each account and compares it with the opening and closing balances the bank printed. A card statement is checked per cardholder too. A statement is Proven only when every figure ties to the cent. If it doesn’t, you see which account is off and by how much. DocuClipper says it runs reconciliation checks as well. We haven’t tested how it reports a difference, so we won’t describe it.
Small volume favors DocuClipper. 1,000 pages favors ZeraBooks.
If you convert a few statements a month, DocuClipper’s 60-page Starter plan at $29 costs less than any ZeraBooks plan. At 1,000 pages a month, ZeraBooks is $149 against DocuClipper’s $219, or $79 against $153.30 billed annually. Both reset monthly pages each month and give the whole year’s pages upfront on a yearly plan. See ZeraBooks pricing.
AFTER THE FILE
A general ledger comes with it.
Both tools read more than bank statements. ZeraBooks also reads checks, investment statements and financial statements. DocuClipper lists brokerage statements, invoices, receipts, checks and tax forms. The difference is what comes with the subscription: the ZeraBooks General Ledger. If you’d rather keep the books in ZeraBooks than import a file somewhere else, see AI bookkeeping.
WHO SHOULD PICK WHICH
When DocuClipper is the better choice
Choose DocuClipper if you need .QBO, .QFX or IIF files, which QuickBooks Desktop and Quicken users often do. Choose it too if you want transactions pushed straight into QuickBooks or Xero, or if you only convert a few dozen pages a month. Its 14-day trial needs no card, so testing it on your own statements costs nothing.
Choose ZeraBooks if Excel or CSV is what you need and you want a clear yes or no on whether each statement ties before it leaves the app. It suits people who convert hundreds of pages a month, and anyone who would rather keep the books in ZeraBooks later. Want a spreadsheet? Here is how to convert a bank statement to Excel.
It depends on your volume. For 1,000 pages a month, ZeraBooks costs $149 a month or $79 billed annually, against DocuClipper’s $219 or $153.30. For a few statements a month, DocuClipper’s 60-page Starter plan at $29 costs less than any ZeraBooks plan. Prices checked October 2026.
Does DocuClipper make QBO files?+
Yes. DocuClipper’s pricing page lists QBO, QFX, OFX, QIF and IIF output, plus Excel and CSV. ZeraBooks doesn’t make QBO files. It makes Excel and CSV, including a QuickBooks-ready CSV with Date, Description and Amount that QuickBooks Online’s bank upload accepts. See PDF to QuickBooks.
Is DocuClipper free?+
No. DocuClipper has a 14-day free trial with no card, which processes up to 120 pages. After that, plans start at $29 a month for 60 pages. ZeraBooks has a 7-day free trial with 1,000 pages. A card is needed at checkout and nothing is charged for 7 days.
Can ZeraBooks replace DocuClipper for QuickBooks?+
For QuickBooks Online, yes, through a QuickBooks-ready CSV that you upload in QuickBooks Online’s bank transactions. ZeraBooks doesn’t connect to QuickBooks and doesn’t categorize. If you need a .QBO file for QuickBooks Desktop, or transactions sent straight into QuickBooks, DocuClipper does that and ZeraBooks doesn’t.
How does ZeraBooks check a converted statement?+
For each bank account, opening balance plus transactions must equal the closing balance. For a card, previous balance plus charges minus payments must equal the new balance. Every figure must match to the cent before a statement is marked Proven. If one doesn’t, ZeraBooks reads it again and shows the difference.
Do unused pages carry over?+
Not on monthly billing, in either tool. DocuClipper’s pricing page says monthly pages don’t carry forward, and annual billing gives the year’s pages upfront. ZeraBooks works the same way: monthly pages reset each billing month, and a yearly plan gives you the whole year’s pages to use whenever you like.
