How do you download a Bank of America statement as a PDF?
Every account’s statements sit under one menu, filtered by two dropdowns. Full steps: Download your Bank of America statements.
- 1
Sign in to Online Banking on a computer
Use the business login if the account is a business account.
- 2
Open Accounts, then Statements & Documents
The list shows statements for one account and one year at a time.
- 3
Set both dropdowns
Choose the account and the year. A month that seems to be missing is usually just in another year’s list.
- 4
Open the month and download the PDF
Online Banking shows 6 years. Older statements, up to 7 years, can be requested from the bank, sometimes for a fee.
Try it on your own documents. One-week free trial, both apps included.
HOW BANK OF AMERICA LAYS IT OUT
How is a Bank of America statement laid out?
A Bank of America business statement typically opens with an account summary, then lists transactions in sections by direction, then checks, then fees, then a daily balance table. The section names changed over the years, which matters if you are working through older statements.
| Section (recent statements) | Older statements called it | In the converted file |
|---|---|---|
| Account summary | Account summary | Used for the proof, not rows |
| Deposits and other credits | Deposits and other additions | Rows, Type Deposit, positive |
| Withdrawals and other debits | Withdrawals and other subtractions; ATM and debit card subtractions | Rows, Type Withdrawal, negative |
| Checks | Checks | Rows, Type Check, negative |
| Service fees | Service fees | Rows, Type Fee, negative |
| Daily ledger balances | Daily ledger balances | Not rows: balances, not transactions |
The summary also prints how many deposits and credits there were. That count is a second check: the converted file should have the same number of deposit rows. Personal and business statements differ in detail, so treat the left column as the usual pattern, not a promise.
WORKED EXAMPLE
What does a converted Bank of America statement look like?
Bayview Dental Lab is a fictional business with a Business Advantage account ending 7720. Its September 2026 statement prints two credits, two debits, one check and a service fee across four sections. Converted, in date order:
| Date | Description | Type | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| 09/02/2026 | Mobile Deposit Ref 4471 | Deposit | 6,820.00 |
| 09/09/2026 | Payroll Svc Des:Payroll | Withdrawal | -4,100.00 |
| 09/14/2026 | Check 3318 | Check | -950.00 |
| 09/18/2026 | Stripe Des:Transfer | Deposit | 2,415.75 |
| 09/24/2026 | Henry Schein Des:Ach Pmt | Withdrawal | -1,265.30 |
| 09/30/2026 | Monthly Fee Business Adv | Fee | -16.00 |
| Beginning balance 21,406.90 + rows | 24,311.35 |
The proof: 21,406.90 + 9,235.75 − 5,365.30 − 950.00 − 16.00 = 24,311.35, the ending balance in the account summary. The summary says 2 deposits and credits, and the file has 2 deposit rows. For the general steps see convert a bank statement to Excel.
WHAT GOES WRONG
What goes wrong when you copy a Bank of America statement into Excel?
Checks in their own block
Checks print as number, date and amount in a separate section, often in two columns side by side. Pasted, the columns interleave and amounts land on the wrong check.
Signs from the heading
Withdrawals print as negative in some statement styles and positive under a debits heading in others. Mixing years of statements mixes conventions.
"Des:" and "ID:" fields
ACH descriptions run several labelled fields together (company, Des, ID, Indn). Splitting them by hand is slow; keeping the whole description is safer.
Statements by year
Downloading a year means changing the year dropdown. Upload the whole year together and combine bank statements into one file, then check each opening balance against the last closing balance.
Can I download Bank of America statements as CSV instead?
The account’s activity page offers a transaction download, but it has no opening or closing balance and covers a limited window. For anything that has to be complete, use the statement PDF.
Where are my Bank of America business card statements?
In the same Statements & Documents menu: choose the card in the account dropdown. Card statements convert on the same page and are proven against the new balance. See credit card statement to Excel.
Can I get statements older than 6 years?
Online Banking shows 6 years. Bank of America can supply older statements, up to 7 years, on request, sometimes for a fee.
Does ZeraBooks connect to Bank of America?
No. ZeraBooks has no bank feeds and never asks for your sign-in. You download the PDF and upload it.
How much does it cost?
Convert comes with the ZeraBooks subscription: 1,000 pages a month for $79 a month billed annually or $149 monthly, after a 7-day trial. See ZeraBooks pricing.
