Banks & Cards

Add accounts, upload statements and get every transaction in the right category.

Accounts and statements

Accounts and statements:

Banks & Cards overview

Banks & Cards is the register of every bank account and credit card in your books. Here is what each part of the page does and how transactions get there.

Accounts and statements:

Add bank and credit-card accounts

Every statement you upload goes into an account you add first. Add each bank account and credit card by name. No account number or bank login needed.

Accounts and statements:

Upload a bank or card statement

Upload one account's PDF, CSV or Excel statement, up to 10 MB. ZeraBooks imports the transactions, categorizes them and checks the printed balances.

Accounts and statements:

How ZeraBooks proves a statement

Every statement you upload is checked against its own printed opening and closing balances, so you know the transactions are complete before you rely on them.

Accounts and statements:

Remove a statement

Removing a statement deletes it and every transaction it brought in. Use it to undo an upload into the wrong account or a statement that was read badly.

Transactions

Transactions:

Review and fix categories

ZeraBooks categorizes every statement line. Switch to Edit to review the lines that need a look, fix a category, or set one category on many lines at once.

Transactions:

Apply a correction to similar transactions

After you fix one line's category, ZeraBooks offers to apply the same category to similar transactions from the same merchant, in one click.

Transactions:

Transfers, credit-card payments and owner draws

Money moving between your own accounts isn't income or an expense. Here is how ZeraBooks spots transfers and card payments, and how owner draws are handled.

Transactions:

Match manual entries to statement lines

If you recorded a payment by hand and the statement shows it too, match the two so the payment is counted once. Or confirm they are separate activity.

Transactions:

Export transactions

Download your bank and card transactions as a CSV, keep a saved copy in the Vault, or download the Financial Package with your statements and ledger.
