# Start your free trial
Create your ZeraBooks account, pick monthly or annual billing, and start a 7-day free trial. Here is what it costs and when your card is charged.
## Plans and prices
The General Ledger has one plan with full access to every feature. You choose how you pay:

Both start with a 7-day free trial.
## Start the trial
1. On the pricing page, click **Start 7-day free trial** under the General Ledger plan.
2. Create your account. Enter your **Email address** and a password, type it again in **Confirm password**, then click **Create account**. Or click **Continue with Google**.
3. On **Pick your plan and start your 7-day free trial**, choose **Monthly** or **Annual**. **Annual** is selected by default.
4. Click **Start your free trial**.
5. Enter your card on Stripe's secure checkout page and confirm.

**Tip:** Your password needs at least 8 characters, with a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number and a special character. If one is missing, the form says which, for example "Password must include: a number".

## When you're charged
- A card is required to start the trial.
- Nothing is charged for 7 days. The first charge comes when the trial ends.
- Cancel before then and you won't be billed. You cancel in **Settings** › **Billing** › **Manage billing**. See [Billing and your trial](https://www.zerabooks.com/help/my-account/billing-and-your-trial).
## Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a credit card for the free trial?
Yes. Your card is collected at checkout, but nothing is charged until the 7-day trial ends.
How much does ZeraBooks cost after the trial?
$79 a month billed annually ($948 a year), or $149 a month billed monthly.
How do I cancel during the trial?
Go to **Settings** › **Billing** and click **Manage billing**. Cancel on Stripe's billing portal before the trial ends and you won't be charged. See [Billing and your trial](https://www.zerabooks.com/help/my-account/billing-and-your-trial).
Is there a charge for each client or company?
Your trial and your plan include 3 client companies, with no per-seat fees. Adding a 4th client during the trial asks you to start your subscription first. After that, each additional client is $29 a month, or $290 a year on annual billing.
What does "Something went wrong loading your account." mean?
The plan page couldn't load your account within 10 seconds. Click **Try again**. If you signed in with the wrong account, click **Sign out** and sign in again.
I didn't get to the plan page after signing up. What happened?
If your email address isn't confirmed yet, sign-in shows "Please verify your email before signing in. Check your inbox for the confirmation link." Open the link in that email, then sign in again.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
On the sign-in page, click **Forgot password?**, enter your email and click **Send reset link**. Follow the link in the email to choose a new password.
