# Use the Help Center with AI tools

Ask Zera answers questions from these guides, and every page works with ChatGPT, Claude and any MCP-compatible AI tool.

## Ask Zera

**Ask Zera** answers questions about using ZeraBooks from the guides in this Help Center, and links the guides it used.

1. Click **Ask** at the top of any page, or press <kbd>⌘</kbd> <kbd>I</kbd> (<kbd>Ctrl</kbd> <kbd>I</kbd> on Windows).
2. Type your question, for example "Why doesn't my statement tie?", and press <kbd>Enter</kbd>.
3. Read the answer and open a source under **Sources** for the full steps. Ask a follow-up in the same conversation.

You can also hover over any paragraph in a guide and click the small question button beside it to ask Zera to explain that part.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** Ask Zera only knows these public guides. It can't see your books or your account, and it doesn't give tax or legal advice. For a question about your own data, it tells you where in ZeraBooks to find it.
{% endhint %}

## Open a page in ChatGPT or Claude

1. Click the arrow beside **Ask** at the top of the page.
2. Choose **Open in ChatGPT** or **Open in Claude**. A new tab opens with the page loaded, ready for your questions.

## Connect the Help Center to an AI tool (MCP)

The Help Center has an MCP server that any MCP-compatible tool can use to search and read these guides. Its address is:

```
https://www.zerabooks.com/help/mcp
```

It offers three tools: **searchDocumentation**, **getPage** and **askQuestion**.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Claude Code" %}
Run this in your terminal:

```
claude mcp add --transport http zerabooks-help https://www.zerabooks.com/help/mcp
```
{% endtab %}
{% tab title="VS Code" %}
Click the arrow beside **Ask** on any page, then **Connect to VS Code**. VS Code asks you to confirm adding the server.
{% endtab %}
{% tab title="Codex" %}
Run this in your terminal:

```
codex mcp add zerabooks-help --url https://www.zerabooks.com/help/mcp
```
{% endtab %}
{% tab title="Other tools" %}
Add a remote MCP server of type **HTTP** (Streamable HTTP) with the address above. No sign-in is needed.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## Markdown and llms.txt

Every page in this Help Center is also available as Markdown: add `.md` to its address, for example `https://www.zerabooks.com/help/reconciliations/how-reconciliation-works.md`. Add `?ask=` and a question to get an answer instead, for example `…/how-reconciliation-works.md?ask=why does my month not tie`.

The full list of pages is at [/help/llms.txt](https://www.zerabooks.com/help/llms.txt), and every page's full text is at [/help/llms-full.txt](https://www.zerabooks.com/help/llms-full.txt).

## Frequently Asked Questions

<details>
<summary>Can Ask Zera see my books?</summary>

No. Ask Zera in the Help Center answers only from these public guides. It never sees your company, transactions or account.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Is Ask Zera always right?</summary>

It's AI and can make mistakes. Every answer lists the guides it used, so check the steps there. If something looks wrong, rate the answer with the thumbs-down button so we can fix the guide.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Does the MCP server need an account or an API key?</summary>

No. It serves the same public guides as this website, so there is nothing to sign in to.
</details>

<details>
<summary>Can an AI tool change my books through the Help Center MCP server?</summary>

No. The Help Center MCP server only searches and reads these guides. It has no access to ZeraBooks accounts.
</details>

<details>
<summary>How often is the Markdown updated?</summary>

It's the same source as the page, so it always matches what you see on the website.
</details>

## Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
