# Plans and pages

Convert's three plans are sold on pages processed. Here is what each plan includes, what counts as a page, and what happens when you reach your plan's pages.

## The three plans

Every ZeraBooks account starts with a 7-day free trial (a card is needed at checkout), on the plan you pick at signup. The trial includes 1,000 pages, whichever plan it's on. You pay monthly or yearly, and the plans differ by how many pages you can process:

| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Pages |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **ZeraBooks** | $149 a month | $948 a year ($79 a month) | 1,000 a month, or 12,000 a year upfront |
| **ZeraBooks 2,500** | $249 a month | $2,148 a year ($179 a month) | 2,500 a month, or 30,000 a year upfront |
| **ZeraBooks 5,000** | $599 a month | $5,388 a year ($449 a month) | 5,000 a month, or 60,000 a year upfront |

There are no add-ons and no overage bills. When you need more pages, you move to the next plan. See [Change your plan](https://www.zerabooks.com/help/convert-plan-and-settings/change-your-plan) and [/pricing](/pricing).

## See your usage

1. Click **ZeraBooks Convert** at the top of the sidebar, then click **Billing**.
2. The **Your plan** card shows your plan and its price, with its status on the right, for example **Active · renews {date}** or **Free trial · ends {date}**.

The meter reads **Pages this month** (or **Pages this year** on yearly billing, or **Pages in your free trial** during the trial), shown as "x of y · z left". The note under it says when a new month (or year) of pages starts, that a document that can't be read never uses pages, and that a document already reading always finishes. The bar turns orange at 80% and a deeper orange at 100%.

The **Pages** card on **Home** shows the same count, with the pages left and when they reset. See [Billing](https://www.zerabooks.com/help/convert-plan-and-settings/convert-settings).

## What counts as a page

- **A page is a page of a PDF you upload.** A 12-page statement uses 12 pages.
- **Pages count per billing period.** On monthly billing, that's each monthly billing period. On yearly billing, you get the whole year's pages upfront, to use whenever you like during the year.
- **Failed pages never count.** A document that couldn't be read uses no pages.
- **Uploading the same PDF again counts its pages again** once it's read, because it's read as a new document.

## Pages in your free trial

The 7-day free trial includes **1,000 pages**, whichever plan or billing it's on. If you chose a plan on the pricing page, the trial is on that plan; otherwise it's on **ZeraBooks**. When the trial ends, your plan is charged automatically, the page count starts again from zero, and you get your plan's full pages.

Need more during the trial? Click **Start my plan now** on **Billing** (or **Start your plan now** when you're close to the trial's pages). This ends the trial today, charges your plan's price to your card on file, and opens its full pages at once. Changing to a bigger plan during the trial doesn't end it: nothing is charged until the trial ends, and the trial stays at 1,000 pages. See [Change your plan](https://www.zerabooks.com/help/convert-plan-and-settings/change-your-plan).

## When you're close to your pages

From 80% of your pages, Convert suggests more pages before you run out:

- On the document pages, such as **Bank & Credit Cards**, a banner reads "**{N} pages left this month** of {total}. Move up before you run out, so nothing waits." Click **Get more pages** (or **Start your plan** during the trial). Click the **X** to hide it until your next visit.
- On **Home**, the **Pages** card shows a button: **Move to {next plan}**, **Start your plan now** during the trial, or **Get more pages**.
- On **Billing**, a note reads "You've used {x}% of your pages this month. Move up now and nothing has to wait.", with a button. The next plan is marked **Recommended**.

## Get more pages

Each of those buttons opens the **Get more pages** dialog, so you never have to leave the page you're on:

1. The dialog shows your pages used, for example "**820** of 1,000 pages used this month".
2. Choose an option. Each one shows its pages, how many more you get now, its price, and what you pay **today**. The best option is marked **Recommended**. During the free trial, the dialog offers one option: **Start {plan} now**.
3. Read the line under the options: what today's charge covers, then the regular price.
4. Click **Move up · $X today** (or **Start now · $X** during the trial), or **Not now** to change nothing.

When it's done, the dialog reads **More pages, ready**, and the new pages are yours straight away. To compare every plan instead, click **See all plans**, which opens **Billing**.

On **ZeraBooks 5,000**, the top plan, the dialog offers **Talk to us** for a custom plan instead.

## When you reach your plan's pages

**Running out never stops a document that's already converting.** A document that is already reading, or already uploading, is read in full. Only your next upload waits.

New uploads then show a plain message and a button to get more pages:

"You've used your {N} pages for this month. Move to {next plan} to keep converting."

On yearly billing it says "this year". On **ZeraBooks 5,000**, the top plan, the second sentence reads "Talk to us about higher volume." During the free trial: "You've used the 1,000 pages in your free trial. Start your plan now to keep converting."

The file you tried to upload isn't lost. The notice says it is waiting, with a **Get more pages and convert it** button (**…convert them** for several files). Move up in the dialog, and the waiting files upload and convert automatically: "Converting your {N} files now." Or wait until your pages reset.

On the document pages, a banner also reads "**You've used all {N} pages this month.** Documents already reading will finish; new uploads wait for more pages."

{% hint style="info" %}
**Note:** Reaching your plan's pages never removes anything. Everything you already converted stays in Convert.
{% endhint %}

## When your subscription isn't active

| Billing shows | What it means | Message |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Payment due — update your card in Manage billing** | The last payment failed. New documents can't be converted. | "Your last payment didn't go through. Update your card in Manage billing to keep converting." |
| **Ended** | The subscription was canceled. Your documents stay. Click **Restart your subscription**. | "Your subscription has ended. Restart it to convert more documents; everything you converted is still here." |
| **No subscription yet** | You haven't started a trial. Click **Start your 7-day free trial**. | "Start your 7-day free trial to convert documents." |

## Other plan labels

- **Original unlimited plan**: subscribers from before these plans keep unlimited use, as their plan was sold. **Billing** says "Your plan was sold with unlimited pages, and it keeps them." and has no **Change plan** card.
- **Enterprise** (status **Managed by ZeraBooks**): a ZeraBooks contract. To change its pages or billing, contact your ZeraBooks representative. When its pages are used: "You've used your contract's pages for this period. Your ZeraBooks contact can raise it."
- **Complimentary**: an account ZeraBooks granted, with no page limit.

Need more than **ZeraBooks 5,000**, or a custom solution? Click **Talk to us** at the bottom of the **Billing** page.
